NR at higher doses, anyone getting GI upset that actually stuck around

So ive been taking NR for about 6 weeks now, started at 300mg and bumped to 600mg a couple weeks in because i wasnt feeling much. For what it is worth the energy difference is subtle at best, could just be placebo or just a good training block. But the thing im actually wondering about is the gut stuff. Around the time i went up to 600mg i started getting this low grade nausea in the mornings, not bad enough to stop training but definitely there. Never vomited or anything just kinda off.

I know GI upset is listed as a possible thing at higher doses but im curious if anyone here actually pushed through it and it settled, or if it just kept getting worse. I train long hours and my gut is already fussy from hours of running so its hard to tell if its the NR or just my stomach being my stomach. Dropped back to 300mg a few days ago and it seems to be easing off but too early to say for sure.

Also keen to know if anyone split their dose instead of taking it all at once, seemed like that might help. Chur for any input.

  • nina489: I tried NR at 500 mg once a day for about three weeks and felt a low‑grade queasiness in the mornings, not enough to stop training but annoying. I split it into 250 mg twice daily and the nausea faded after a few days, though the energy boost stayed subtle. Dropping back to 250 mg total made it disappear completely for me. Have you tried splitting the dose, or does the upset persist even with a lower total amount? No?
  • labrat_vik: I split my 600 mg NR into 300 mg twice a day after the nausea hit, and the queasy mornings eased within a couple days while the subtle energy feel stayed about the same. Lower total dose made it disappear for me too.
  • student748: Chur that's actually a really helpful data point. I might try the split dose approach instead of just dropping back down, cos at 300 once a day i feel like im getting even less from it. Did you space them morning and evening or does timing not matter much? Gut is already dodgy from long runs so hard to isolate what's what.
  • student748: Nah i havent tried splitting it yet, just dropped the total back to 300mg once in the morning. Sounds worth a go though, maybe 300mg in two doses and see if the nausea stays away. Did you split morning and evening or just space them a few hours apart? For what it is worth the fact that your queasiness faded after a few days of splitting is pretty encouraging, makes me think its more about the peak concentration hitting the gut all at once rather than the total load.
