RU-58841 scalp irritation after a few weeks, anyone deal with contact dermatitis from it?

Been running RU-58841 topically for about three weeks now and the last few days my scalp is getting noticeably irritated. Redness, some flaking, and it itches more than I'd expect from just dryness. Anecdotally I've seen people mention scalp irritation as a possible side effect but I'm trying to figure out if this is the compound itself or maybe the vehicle it's mixed in. I'm using a pretty standard ethanol/PG vehicle.

For those of you who've run RU for a while, did you hit any irritation around the 2-4 week mark? If so, did it settle on its own or did you have to back off? I'm wondering if adjusting the concentration or switching the vehicle would help, or if this is just my skin saying no to the compound entirely.

Also kinda concerned about the unproven long-term safety angle. I know it's a research chemical and there's not much human data out there. Anyone have bloodwork done while using it to check for any systemic absorption issues? The short half-life in skin makes me think systemic exposure should be minimal but I'd feel better seeing actual numbers from someone who tested.

Talk to a dermatologist if it gets worse, obviously. Just trying to get a read on whether this is par for the course or a sign I should stop.

  • labrat_vik: I’ve seen a few guys mention that red, itchy patch show up around week three with RU‑58841, and for me it turned out to be the propylene glycol in the mix rather than the molecule itself – switching to a plain ethanol vehicle cleared the flaking after a couple days, though the redness lingered a bit longer. If you’re using a standard ethanol/PG blend, try cutting the PG in half or swapping it for just ethanol and see if the irritation eases; sometimes the skin just needs a break and the symptoms
  • tracker_jade: That's actually really helpful, makes me feel better about it not necessarily being the compound itself. I might try cutting the PG first before going full ethanol since I don't wanna mess with absorption too much. Did you notice any difference in how well it seemed to work after dropping the PG, or did it feel about the same?
