Anyone tried injectable zinc for immune boost during winter?

Hey mates, I’ve been curious about injectable zinc after seeing it pop up in some telemedicine ads for immune support. I’m coming into the Aussie winter and usually cop a cold or two, so I thought I’d give it a crack. I snagged a 5mg vial of zinc sulfate, reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, and did a 5mg IM shot once a week for four weeks.
Anecdotally, I didn’t notice any dramatic change – no fewer sore throats or faster recovery when I did get a sniff – but I also didn’t get any injection site pain or metallic taste. It felt pretty neutral, could just be placebo or maybe my baseline levels were already okay. I’m wondering if anyone else has run injectable zinc and actually felt a difference in illness frequency or energy?
Also, any thoughts on dosing frequency – seems like 1-2x per week is typical but I’ve seen some folks go more often during acute illness. Would love to hear real world notes, not just the lab stuff.
