New findings on the TREK-1 channel and PE 22-28

I found another paper discussing how blocking the TREK-1 potassium channel might actually speed up synaptogenesis. It is basically the logic behind PE 22-28. I am still reading through the details, but the idea that a peptide could promote neuroplasticity faster than traditional SSRIs is REALLY interesting to me, tbh.

I have been looking into this since a few weeks now because I am curious about cognitive longevity. However, since most of this is still preclinical, I am quite skeptical about how it translates to us. I actually worry that we might be overhyping the rapid effect before we have real human safety data.

For me, the most important thing is whether these changes in the brain are stable or just temporary. I do not want something that just gives a short boost but lacks long term evidence. Does anyone here have more experience with TREK-1 research? Do you think the jump from animal models to human mood improvement is usually this direct, or is it usually a disappointment? I would appreciate any citations you can share. Thank you!
