L-Carnitine fishy smell and restless sleep, anyone else?

I have been looking into the lipotropic blends recently, specifically the ones with L-carnitine for energy and fat metabolism.

Anecdotally, I have heard a few people mention a bit of a fishy body odour when using higher doses of injectable carnitine. I am quite keen on staying on top of any side effects before I decide to try it myself.

I have also read that the Lipo-C injections can cause some restlessness or insomnia if they are taken too late in the day. For me, getting my sleep schedule right is a massive priority, so I am a bit wary of anything that might mess with my rest. πŸ˜…

Does anyone here have experience with the MIC + L-carnitine blends? I am wondering if the fishy smell is a dealbreaker for most people or if it is just a bit of a nuisance.

Also, has anyone checked their bloodwork to see if these blends actually help with liver support as claimed? I would love to see some actual data rather than just taking everyone's word for it. πŸ’ͺ

  • zone2_nof1: Reckon the fishy smell is mostly just a dose thing. Anecdotally, I only noticed it when I pushed the numbers higher, and it seemed to be a sweat thing rather than just a general scent. Could just be my own body chemistry though. As for the sleep, I found that taking anything stimulatory or metabolic in the arvo completely wrecked my night. If you're keen on keeping your sleep tight, just do it first thing in the morning. Regarding the liver bloodwork, I doubt you'll find much that's definitive
  • zoe597: That makes sense about the sweat. Anecdotally, I reckon if it's tied to sweat, it might be harder to manage than just a general smell. πŸ˜… I'll definitely try the morning timing if I start a programme. Taking it in the arvo sounds like a recipe for disaster for my sleep. Did you notice if the smell went away after you lowered the dose, or did it stick around?
