PE 22-28 and the TREK-1 channel research

I have been reading more about PE 22-28 lately since the discussions here about neuroplasticity have been so interesting. It is a synthetic peptide from spadin that targets the TREK-1 potassium channel. From what I can find in the preclinical data, it seems to work by increasing synaptogenesis and neurogenesis, which is quite different from how most antidepressants function.
Tbh, I am very skeptical about how quickly these results will translate to actual humans. The idea of a fast-acting antidepressant that works through TREK-1 blockade sounds amazing on paper, but since it is still in the preclinical stage, we really do not know the human safety profile or if the effects are actually sustainable. It feels a bit like the hype might outpace the actual science for a while. I am curious if anyone else is following the specific mechanism of TREK-1 inhibition or if you think the focus on neuroplasticity is being a bit overblown in the biohacking community.
I would love to see more actual human trials before I get too excited about it. Has anyone found any recent papers that discuss the specific safety concerns for this peptide?
