My experience with Spermidine and autophagy

I have been thinking a lot about autophagy lately. I wanted something to help with cellular clean up but was not ready for rapamycin yet because of potential side effects like mouth sores. So I started taking Spermidine, about 5 mg daily for last two months.
For me, the biggest change is energy levels. I feel more awake during day, especially mid afternoon when I usually crash. I do not know if it is placebo or real effect on mitochondria, but I feel a bit sharper. My skin also seems to look better, maybe less dull.
I am curious if anyone here combines this with Metformin or /peptides/rapamycin. I read that both target similar pathways to mimic fasting. I worry if doing too much autophagy is bad for muscle mass, though I have not noticed any loss so far. I usually take it in morning on empty stomach. Does anyone have a different timing or higher dose that worked better for them? I would love to see if others noticed same thing with skin or focus ππ

- scott193: I have been tracking my own energy levels with a similar approach since a few months. I actually tried a higher dose around 10 mg, but for me it did not seem to make a big difference compared to 5 mg. It could just be placebo, but I also noticed my skin felt slightly firmer. Regarding muscle mass, I am also cautious about overdoing the autophagy. I do not combine them, but if you use Metformin, you might want to monitor your glucose more closely. I usually take mine in the morning too. Do you t
- wes_p: It is interesting that you did not see much difference at 10 mg. For me, 5 mg feels like sweet spot, so I will probably stay there. I do not use any wearable for sleep yet, but I feel more rested in mornings. I am not tracking fasted glucose right now, but I should probably start doing that if I ever decide to add Metformin to the mix.
