Question about rapamycin and autophagy timing

Posted by frugalrobin in Longevity & Anti-Aging - 3 points, 0 comments.

I have been reading a lot about mTOR inhibitors lately, specifically rapamycin. Not gonna lie, it feels a bit scary to think about messing with such big cellular pathways, but the idea of inducing autophagy through pulsed doses is very interesting to me.

I am trying to understand how to best time this if someone was doing research. If the goal is to mimic caloric restriction, should it be done on days when I am not eating much, or does it not matter? I am a bit confused if the compound works better when body is already in certain metabolic state.

Also, I am curious about how people manage the side effects like mouth sores or changes in lipids. I saw some mention of it in forums, but I want to know if anyone has real experience with how it felt for them. I really want to see some more actual human data or at least more citations on the weekly dosing for longevity specifically. It is hard to find clear papers that are not just on mice. Thanks for any help or links you can share.
