The FDA is proposing to permanently bar semaglutide, tirzepatide, and liraglutide from compounding under 503B outsourcing facilities. This would effectively end compounded GLP-1 availability for people who can't access brand-name. I've been watching this unfold for a while, my own protocol shifted to brand-name when compounded got too unreliable, but I know a lot of people here rely on compounded versions for cost or access reasons.
The article leaves out whether there's any carve-out for research use or clinical trial exceptions, which matters for a community like this. My question is: if compounding goes fully underground or overseas, does that actually make things safer or just harder to track?
