This article talks about the Phase III trial for retatrutide, where the high dose group lost over 28 percent of their body weight. It is a triple agonist, so it hits GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors.
The weight loss numbers are huge, more or less what we expected from the earlier data. But the analysts in the piece are worried about adverse events, and they should be. Fwiw, in my own experience with these types of compounds, I notice a big difference in how my heart rate reacts when glucagon is involved. I track my HRV and resting heart rate daily, and any jump in those numbers makes me cautious.
It seems like the industry focuses too much on the scale and not enough on how we actually feel during the process, no? Do you think the extra weight loss is worth the potential for more heart-related side effects?
