Physicians calling for stricter supplement oversight

This Bloomberg Law piece discusses how doctors are pushing the FDA to tighten up the regulations on dietary supplements. It focuses on the pressure from medical professionals who want more accountability regarding what actually ends up in these products.
I find this quite interesting because it highlights the massive gap between what is marketed and what is actually verified. In my own research, I always feel like I am doing double the work to ensure my compounds are pure and safe. It is quite a worry that even with all our testing, the baseline for what the FDA allows on the market seems so loose.
If the regulations actually get stricter, do you think it will make it harder for us to access high-quality research materials, or will it just force the bad actors out of the market? I am a bit skeptical that the FDA can move fast enough to actually make a difference, but it would be lekker to see some real teeth in these laws.
