I saw this Drug Discovery News article about an FDA advisory committee voting to recommend adding six unapproved peptides to the 503A bulk compounding list. The piece notes the panel moved forward even though the FDA itself had expressed safety concerns about these substances. It’s the kind of thing that makes me pause, especially since several of these peptides show up in longevity and biohacking circles even though they haven’t gone through the usual approval process.
What bothered me is the article didn’t really dig into what “patient-specific prescription” actually means in practice, or how compounding pharmacies would vet quality. I’ve seen threads where people swear by certain peptides for recovery or sleep, but I’m always skeptical when something’s being used off-label without solid safety data.
