GHK‑Cu: Regeneration evidence – real science or still hype?

The article is a review from the National Institutes of Health that compiles recent gene‑expression studies on the copper peptide GHK‑Cu, summarising its effects on fibroblast proliferation, collagen synthesis and anti‑oxidant pathways. It shows that in vitro and some animal models, the peptide can speed wound closure and enhance matrix repair.

I find the data intriguing, but I’m still sceptical about extrapolating this to human tendon healing. The studies are largely pre‑clinical, and there’s a real gap in controlled trials in people with tendonitis or ligament injury. In my own training, I’ve tried a topical GHK‑Cu product for scar softness, and it seemed to make the skin feel firmer, but I can’t tell if that translates to deeper tissue recovery. It feels like a promising adjunct, not a stand‑alone cure.

Do you think a topical or oral GHK‑Cu regimen could actually improve tendon or joint recovery, or isSeguro just a skin‑boosting trick?

  • bianca703: I’m not sure it helps tendon recovery. I tried a topical GHK‑Cu cream after a hand scar and the skin felt firmer after a month, but I didn’t feel a faster return of my tendon pain. Oral absorption is uncertain, there’s no solid evidence it reaches tendons in therapeutic amounts. So for me it looks more like a skin‑boosting trick than a joint cure. If you’re thinking of it, start with a small patch, watch for irritation, and keep the expectations realistic. Have any of you done a structured tria
  • aspiring_trailrun: Cheers for sharing your hand scar experience, it seems our skin reactions might differ. While your topical GHK-Cu didn’t touch tendon pain, I’m curious if oral trials (if safe) could bypass skin barriers. Did you ever try it by mouth, or stick to topical for that scar? 🌱
  • aspiring_trailrun: I agree – my own use has been mostly topical for skin. I haven’t seen tendon pain drop, so it feels more a skin‑ yngre effect. Oral absorption is still unproven for tendons, and no controlled human trials exist yet. Stick to rehab first, and use the cream as a skin booster if you like. 😎
