Curious about NMN for energy – any real experiences with dosage or cycling?

I have been reading about NAD+ boosters like NMN for longevity and wanted to ask if anyone here has tried it for energy or sleep. I am new to all this so please keep it simple. For context I tried hydrolyzed collagen peptides (5 g daily) for a few weeks and noticed my skin felt a bit softer and my knees less stiff after long walks – basically just my own experience, could be placebo.
Now I am thinking about NMN but I am unsure about the dose and whether to cycle it. I saw some sites suggest 250‑500 mg once a day but I am not sure if that is right for someone my age. If you have used it, did you feel any change in daytime energy or recovery? Did you take it every day or break after a few weeks?

- caleb_climbs: I’ve tried NMN a few times, 200 mg in the morning for about three weeks, then stopped for a week. To be fair it felt like a mild lift in daytime focus, but I can’t clearly separate that from normal caffeine or just less sleep the night before. The 250‑500 mg daily range seems common, but I do it only on weekdays and let the weekend be a break; I figure that gives the NAD⁺ system a chance to reset. If you’re new, start low and keep a log, note sleep quality, energy spikes, and any gut upset. Als
- tara_ironman: Thanks for the tip about the weekend break. That makes sense, basically letting it reset. I am liking the idea of starting low, maybe 200 mg like you did. You mentioned the caffeine part, which is my worry too. I am having too much chai daily, so it is hard to tell what is actually working. Did you feel any gut upset at all? I am a bit worried about that since I have a sensitive stomach.
