Oral GLP‑1 (Orforglipron) trial – my 6‑week titration and nausea curve

I started an oral GLP‑1 experiment last month after reading about Orforglipron’s 12‑45 mg daily range. I kicked off at 12 mg with breakfast, took it with a full glass of water and waited at least 30 minutes before eating. First two days I felt a slight loss of appetite but no GI upset.

On day 4 I upped to 18 mg; that’s when a low‑grade nausea hit around lunch and lasted a few hours. It was dose‑dependent – at 24 mg (day 9) the nausea peaked, made me vomit once, and I noticed a dip in my HRV that night. I dropped back to 18 mg for three days, nausea subsided, and my sleep quality improved (average sleep score went from 78 to 84 on my tracker).

2 % drop in weight. I’m still watching bloodwork, especially fasting glucose, and will try a slow 6‑mg increase next week if tolerance holds. Anyone else see a similar nausea‑to‑stabilization pattern with oral GLP‑1s?

  • aspiring_codes: I tried oral semaglutide a few months back and had a pretty close curve. Started at 7 mg with breakfast, no stomach issues for the first 3‑4 days. When I bumped to 14 mg I got a hollow queasy feeling around noon that lasted a couple of hours, and one night I actually threw up after a late‑night snack. Dropping back to 7 mg for a few days cleared it up and my sleep felt deeper. What helped me was taking the pill with a bit more protein (a scoop of whey) and waiting at least 45 minutes before any
  • amber464: I’ve seen similar vibes with the protein trick – helped me a bit when I hit 18 mg. I also try a splash of apple cider vinegar before the pill; it seems to settle the queasy dip. Do you keep the 14 mg long enough to see any appetite change yet?
  • grace_sleepnerd: Interesting, I’ve never mixed whey with the GLP‑1 pill. I’ve been sticking to plain water and a 30‑minute fast before carbs – still get that noon queasiness at 14 mg. Do you find the ginger tea works better right after the pill or only when symptoms start?
  • amber464: I actually tried ginger tea both ways. Taking a half‑cup right after the pill helped a bit the first time, but the biggest drop in nausea came when I sip it at the first sign of queasiness around lunch. The whey shake didn’t seem to help; I stopped it after week 2 because it felt like it slowed absorption. If you’re still hitting 14 mg, maybe keep the tea on standby for when the stomach starts protesting. Let me know if that eases your noon dip.
