First time on Metformin: How do I read the instructions and what should I expect?

Hi all, I’m new to peptide and anti‑aging stacks and just started taking metformin for blood sugar support. I found the product page and the typical dose listed as 500‑1000 mg, 1‑2x daily. I’m not sure whether that means once in the morning or split with meals.
The page says “take with meals to minimise GI upset” – does that mean mealtime or literally the same time as a meal? Also, I read it can cause a metallic taste and GI upset; I’ve had a metallic taste before on a different supplement. I’m wondering if that’s normal or a sign of too high a dose.
I’ve never done any reconstitution or injection, so I just want to keep it simple. I’d appreciate anyone who’s been there and can walk me through how you read the instructions, how you schedule the dose, and what mild side effects I should monitor. Fwiw, I’ve also looked into activated charcoal as a detox binder, but I’m not yet ready to add that. Thanks for the help!
