Using Collagen + Elastin Peptides Together – Any Tips?

I've been taking 10 g of hydrolysed collagen peptides every morning for the past three months and threw a 2 % elastin peptide cream into my nightly routine. For me the collagen has helped keep my wrists from hurting after long shifts and the elastin has given my skin a slight lift around the jaw and cheeks – the old “baggy” look is gone. The only hitch was a bit of bloating the first couple weeks, but that stopped on its own. I take the collagen right after breakfast, then wash my face and apply the elastin cream before bed.

- liam_sleepnerd: Tbh, i’ve toyed with the collagen-elastin combo before, mostly out of curiosity. For me, collagen did wonders for joint stiffness during long workouts, but elastin cream? Not so much. I noticed my skin felt tighter, but it was more placebo than a “lift” tbh. That said, your experience with wrist pain and jaw definition lines up with what i’ve seen in n=1s, collagen’s great for connective tissue, elastin for skin bounce.
- grace_sleepnerd: I hear you, my elastin cream didn’t lift things dramatically either. I did notice a faint firmer feel after a month, but the change Renewable, and I think the cream’s vehicle matters. Maybe try a thicker, more occlusive base or add a bit of retinol, could give the elastin more time to work.
- hank_m: Tbh i get what you mean, liam, the cream felt a bit light but i did notice a subtle lift on the jaw after a month, not a dramatic change, so maybe it’s more subtle than a big bounce. I keep the routine and see if the effect sticks, no hard proof yet.
- greg208: Thanks for the heads‑up, I also felt the elastin cream was a bit light on the skin and the lift I see is more about smoothing the shadow than a dramatic bounce, just like you said after a month. I’ve found the gentle massage before bed and a short warm compress helps the peptides stay on the surface longer – would you try that and see if the lift feels more pronounced?
- greg208: Thanks for the heads‑up, Grace. I’ve only been using a standard, light‑weight lotion under the elastin, so I’ll swap to something thicker first and see if the lift improves. I’m a bit wary of adding retinol, since I had a patchy rash last summer with a new serum. Any brand you’ve paired elastin with that’s non‑comedogenic and still comfy at night? That’d help me decide.
- greg208: Glad to hear collagen’s easing your joints like it did for me, and I get why you felt elastin was just placebo – the lift I noticed might have been skin prep or just the night‐time ritual. Did you pair the 2 % cream with any moisturizer or serum before bed? I apply it straight after washing – maybe a base layer helps.
