My experience using Lactoferrin to help with post-viral fatigue

I started taking Lactoferrin three months ago after a nasty bout of influenza that left me feeling drained for weeks. I dosed 400 mg twice a day, one in the morning on an empty stomach and one in the evening. The first week I noticed a subtle lift in energy right before my training sessions; I was able to hit 20 km on the trail without the usual grogginess.
I didn’t see a dramatic drop in the number of sore throats, but I did notice fewer post‑exercise cramps and my gut felt less bloated after long runs. I’ve read that the iron‑binding property can help reduce free iron that fuels inflammation, so I suspect that’s why I felt a bit more resilient. Around the middle of the second month I had a mild GI upset – a bit of constipation – so I cut the evening dose to 200 mg.
Since then, it’s been consistent and painless. I’ve stopped after a year and my recovery feels normal; I’m not sure if I’ll go back, but the data so far is encouraging for anyone looking for a low‑risk boost to immune support.
