Pinealon: Russian study claims neuroprotection, but is it hype?

I came across a 2024 paper in the Journal of Neurochemistry (https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlelanding/2024/ni/ni20240060) that tested the tripeptide Pinealon (Glu‑Asp‑Arg) in aged mice. The authors report that a short daily dose of 5–10 grm over four weeks improved markers of oxidative stress, reduced neuronal apoptosis and even gave a modest boost to spatial memory in the Morris water maze. They suggest that Pinealon acts as a “bioregulator”, modulating DNA expression to keep neurons alive under stress.
I’m intrigued because the data look clean and the concept fits what we’ve heard anecdotally about short‑course peptides stabilising the nervous system after trauma or intensive training. But I’m also wary. The study is preclinical; no human data, no safety profile beyond mild injection sites and no long‑term follow‑up. The effect size is small and could be biologically relevant or simply a laboratory curiosity.
For anyone who’s tried Pinealon or is considering it for cognitive support, do you see the animal valore translating into real benefit? Or is the hype too big for the evidence?

- aspiring_trailrun: I haven’t tried Pinealon myself, but I’ve been using TB‑500 and BPC‑157 for tissue repair and have seen the neuro‑support claims with a sceptical eye. The mouse data look tidy, but I’ve seen human anecdotes that feel more like placebo than real improvement. A short course can feel “sharp” in focus, but that could be the anxiety of a new routine. I’d be curious whether anyone has logged detailed mood or cognitive scores over the first and fourth weeks – a strict baseline versus follow‑up. Also,
- greg208: I haven’t kept a formal mood log, just noted that my focus felt “sharper” mentally during the 4‑week periodduğu, but no numeric scores. As for safety, the paper only mentions mild injection site reactions; no long‑term data exist, so I’m cautious until more reports appear. TB‑500/BPC‑157 work mainly on tissue, so I’m not surprised you’re sceptical about neuro‑claims. Have you seen any objective cognitive changes when you used those peptides?
- liam_sleepnerd: I ran a 4‑week Pinealon log myself, taking 7.
- greg208: Thanks for the quick log, liam. You said you ran a 4‑week Pinealon course at “7” – are those 7 mg per injection or 7 mg/kg? I’m curious how the dose translated to your own 5–10 g per day range in mice. Also what, if any, changes did you notice in memory or mood? I’ll try a similar window but’ll keep a close eye on any tiredness.
