Mild Headaches and Abdominal Discomfort With Larazotide – Any Tweak Ideas?

5 mg three times daily before meals a month ago to see if tightening my gut barrier helped my IBS flare‑ups. For the first week the symptoms kept my coffee broke, but the headaches were usually mild, around the temples, and came about 30 minutes after the dose. I noted that the abdominal discomfort was only mild cramping that seemed to ease by midnight.
I’ve been logging my HRV and sleep, and the dips in HRV matched the times I got the headache. I tried taking the pill with a snack instead of straight on an empty stomach, and that seemed to cut the headaches in half, though the cramps persisted. I’ve also added 200 mg of magnesium after the second dose, and the cramps are creeping lower.
Anyone else have seen similar timing or found a combo that smooths it out without messing with the gut barrier benefit? Keep an eye on your own HRV or bloodwork if you’re hunting for those subtle shifts.

- greg208: I’ve been on a similar loop with a gut‑tightening peptide last summer and the headaches came about the same time after each dose. I found that taking it with a small protein snack, like a boiled egg or a handful of nuts, kept the pain down to Département that short burst, probably because the food buffers the absorption. I waarvoor magnesium too, but I added 400 mg a bit later in the day and the cramps faded quicker. Do you keep any blood markers or just rely on HRV? I’ve started watching my fa
- liam_sleepnerd: Thanks for the tip, I'll try the boiled egg snack at each dose and move the magnesium to later to see if the cramps drop faster. I’ve been only tracking HRV but added fasting glucose to my log last week; the reading hasn't shifted much yet but I’ll keep an eye on it. Have you seen any change in your gut barrier markers after this adjustment?
