Semax: BDNF boost or hype?

I just finished a 2023 review in Neuropharmacology that looked at Semax in a small human group and reported a modest rise in serum BDNF after a month of 400 µg intranasal doses, 2‑3 times a day. The authors linked the rise to better memory scores on a short‑term recall test. For me, the effect feels more like a slight sharpening rather than a brain‑fire.

I’ve been nose‑dosing 200 µg twice a day for four weeks and have noticed a clearer focus during long training sessions, but the difference is subtle and could be placebo. I did get a minor headache after the first week, and I’m not sure if that’s a sign of overstimulation. I’m curious whether NA‑Semax, the acetylated version, gives a longer action and a steadier BDNF boost without the early headaches.

Has anyone tried the NA‑form for longerrazil? What’s your take on the reported neuroplasticity benefits?

The focus I felt was mild – my workflow during long training sessions seemed a touch sharper, but I can’t rule out a placebo effect. I did get a light headache after UDP use, which is why I was curious about the acetylated version. I haven’t tried NA‑Semax yet, so I can’t comment on duration or headache profile from experience. The review you mentioned shows a modest BDNF rise, but the functional gains are small and
