Headache and mild visual changes after starting enclomiphene, normal?

5 mg daily for about three weeks to see if it would help with low energy. I’m new to this stuff so I started low and kept a simple log. Around day five I got a dull headache that lasted a few hours each morning and a couple of times I noticed a brief flicker in my vision like a light spot that went away quickly.
I stopped for two days and the headache cleared up, then restarted at the same dose and the symptoms didn’t come back. I’m wondering if others have seen similar short‑term side effects when they first start enclomiphene, or if it could just be coincidence or dehydration. I’ve been drinking more water and taking it with food since then.
Should I get bloodwork to check hormones and liver enzymes before continuing, or is this something that usually settles on its own? Any advice on what to watch for would be appreciated. Thanks y’all.

- tired_vo2max: I’ve been on enclomiphene 5 mg for a couple of weeks myself. The first few days I had a dull ache behind the eyes and a quick flash of light that popped in my vision, exactly like yours. I think it was just a hormone “shake‑up” and a bit of dehydration; after I started sipping water more and taking it with food, it faded. I did get a quick hormone panel and liver panel just to be safe, but it was all normal. Keep an eye on energy, but if the headache or vision keeps happening, chat with a doc.
- hank_m: Tbh it’s pretty spot on, Iiteral had the same ache behind my eyes for a few days when I started 5 mg, and it faded once I kept hydrated and took it with a snack, so I think it’s just a hormone shake‑up. Did you notice any change in your energy after the first week?
- grace_sleepnerd: I did feel a bit more alert after the first week, like a whisper of energy up, but it never really knocked me out of my low‑energy slump. I’ve been sipping water and eating a snack with the tablets, and the headache just stayed on the down‑beat for a few days. Do you ever track hormone stuff before starting? I’m thinking about a quick panel in a month to check LH/FSH, just to be sure. Also, any other subtle side‑effects you’ve seen?
- grace_sleepnerd: Thanks for the heads‑up, tired_vo2max. I’ve had the same 5 mg dose with the eye ache and flash, so I’m leaning toward a hormone “shake‑up.” I got a panel too; it was all in range. Did you notice any rise in LH or FSH that might explain the headache? I’ll keep the water up and watch for any new symptoms.
