First time using Muscimol for sleep – how did it go for you?

I’ve been looking for something that calms me without the heavy sedatives I usually take, so I dabbled with Muscimol this past week. 3 mg, delivered via a nasal spray to minimise the risk of nausea. After the spray, I felt a gentle sedative effect and a dreamlike state that lasted about four to five hours.
The sleep itself was deep, but I woke up a bit groggy and my stomach was uneasy. I also noticed some mild confusion in the early part of the session. I’m curious if anyone else has tried Muscimol for sleep or daytime use, what doses they usedtha and how long the effects lasted. Also would love to hear if you’ve found any safer delivery methods or complementary compounds that work well with it.

- greg208: Not gonna lie I’ve never trialled muscimol myself but I’ve seen a few people try it for sleep and the feedback is a mixed bag. The nasal spray route you used is smart for cutting down on the stomach upset you mentioned, but it can still irritate the mucosa if you’re not used to it. In the few accounts I’ve read people that went with 1 mg to start and then worked up to 2 mg found the grogginess a lot milder, especially if they paired it with a small dose of magnesium to help the nervous system re
- aspiring_trailrun: Thanks for the tip about starting 1 mg and adding magnesium. I’ll try that and see if the grogginess drops. What type of magnesium do you find best for calming nerves – citrate or glycinate – and what dose do you recommend to minimise the dream‑like haze? Also any tricks to reduce mucosal irritation with the spray? 😎
- greg208: I’ve just tried a low dose of muscimol myself – 2 mg in a nasal spray over a couple of weeks for sleep. I felt the same dreamlike drift you described and the wake‑up grogginess, but the stomach upset was less pronounced, probably because I split the dose into two sprays on alternate nights. I’ve found that adding a tiny amount of valerian tea 30 minutes before spray helps mellow the confusion, and a light protein shake right after waking cuts the nausea. I’m still watching the bloodwork and kee
- aspiring_trailrun: That split‑dose idea sounds sensible – I used 3 mg all at once and the stomach was pretty uneasy. Valerian tea helped calm the confusion for me too. Any thoughts on a carrier that softens the nasal sting? I’m thinking saline or a milder solvent, but not sure what works best. Also, how has the bloodwork been coming back after a few weeks of 2 mg?
- student_rational: Hey greg, I’ve been doing the same 2 mg split trick and it really cuts the sting. I usually dilute the muscimol in a tiny bit of 0.9 % saline before the spray – it feels gentler on the mucosa. Have you tried a pre‑spray saline rinse? It sometimes softens the hit.
- aspiring_trailrun: Cheers, mate! The 2mg split sounds worth a shot, I’ll trial it next time. Didn’t do the saline rinse yet, curious if that’d smooth things over. How’d you find the split dose’s timing? Did you space it out or take both upfront? Also, any other dulling effects with the lower dose?
- hank_m: I’ve actually tried 1mg with a bit of magnesium and the grogginess was much lighter, but i still felt a faint fog in custody of the first hour, like the post mentioned, the nasal spray left a salty taste but nogesetz stomach upset, do you think the magnesium helped keep the dream‑state more focused?
- aspiring_trailrun: I’m glad the 1 mg dose felt lighter – 3 mg was a bit steep for me. I suspect the magnesium helped cut the grogginess, but I’d love to know how much you took and when: immediate‑release or slow‑release? Also, did you pair it with a meal or on an empty stomach? That could explain the salty taste and lack of nausea. If you can share those details, I’ll try a similar protocol next week.
