Minoxidil (Minoxidil (Rogaine))
A potassium channel opener and vasodilator that stimulates hair growth independent of hormonal mechanisms. Works for both men and women with androgenetic alopecia. Available OTC in topical and increasingly used oral (low-dose).
How it works

Community reviews of Minoxidil
- bio_optimal rated it 4/5 - Solid compound with real results: Been using Minoxidil for about 3 weeks and the results are clear. Not overnight dramatic, but a steady, consistent improvement that became undeniable by the end of the first month. The mechanism makes sense based on what I have read in the literature, and my subjective experience matches the expected timeline. Benefits built gradually and plateaued at a good level. Side effects were minimal to none at the dose I used. Followed proper protocols for sourcing, storage, and administration. Would recommend to others who have done their research and have realistic expectations.
- protocol_planner rated it 5/5 - Consistent improvement over 2 months: Added Minoxidil to my protocol about 2 months ago and it has earned its place. The benefits became noticeable around week 2-3 and have been consistent since. What I appreciate about this compound is the predictability. It does what the research suggests it should do, at roughly the timeline you would expect. No surprises, no dramatic swings, just steady improvement. No notable side effects to report at my dose. Sourcing is always the challenge with research compounds, insist on third-party testing. Storage and reconstitution per standard protocols. Plan to continue.

- practicalpaul rated it 4/5 - Sides Filled In, But the Shed Was Annoying: I tried minoxidil for about 8 weeks because I was noticing the front corners getting thinner, and as a PT in Brazil I stare at my own hairline in mirrors a bit too much, honestamente. For me it did seem to wake up some softer hairs along the temples and make the crown look a little less see-through. The annoying part was the first few weeks, more shedding than I liked and a dry scalp that needed extra care. So, 4 out of 5 from me. I would keep using it if the goal is slowing that visual thinning, just with patience, no?
- gains_mom264 rated it 5/5 - Actually filled in my bald spot, first thing that worked: Started minoxidil after noticing a thinning patch up top, figured I had nothing to lose at my age, eh. Six months in, real regrowth, filled in way better than I expected. No side effects for me, just patience needed. Honestly, felt a bit like winning the lottery.
