P21 Research Guide
Full name: P21 (CNTF-Derived Tetrapeptide)
A CNTF-derived peptide promoting neurogenesis that crosses BBB. Stimulates hippocampal neurogenesis without CNTF appetite-suppressing effects.
How P21 Works
Mimics CNTF neurogenesis-enhancing portion by increasing BDNF and activating PI3K/Akt. Inhibits LIF signaling to selectively promote neural stem cell proliferation.
Dosing Protocol
- Typical dose: 50-100 mcg/kg
- Frequency: Daily
- Duration: 4-8 weeks
- Route: Intranasal or Subcutaneous
Reported Benefits
- Hippocampal neurogenesis
- BDNF increase
- Cognitive enhancement
- BBB penetrant
- No appetite suppression
- Dendritic branching
Potential Side Effects
- Limited safety data
